This is a problem that occurs due to damage in the mucosal membrane of the body. The basic recognizable symptom is the burning sensation in chest region and stomach.

Causes of acidity
There are numerous causes that lead acidity. Commonly encountered causes are:-
1. Indigestion

3. Constipation

Barett’s esophagus this is the serious condition that is a precursor condition of carcinoma.

Diagnosing the GERD
There are methods by which one can get diagnosed. These are:-

Esophageal pH monitoring
Barium Swallow X rays,
Esophageal manometry
Esophagogastrodudeniscopy (EGD)
